The Beijing Olympic Green Circuit is a temporary street circuit in the Beijing Olympic Park in Beijing, China, that hosted the Beijing ePrix, a round of FIA Formula E Championship.[1] The Beijing Circuit would make history as the first circuit to host a Formula E ePrix, hosting the 2014 Beijing ePrix on 13 September 2014.[1]
Formula E History[]
Beijing was picked to host an ePrix ahead of the inaugural 2014/15 FIA Formula E Championship, and was duly revealed as the first host city for the series when the calendar was officially announced.[1] The iconic Bird's Nest Stadium and the Beijing Olympic Park, the site of the 2008 Summer Olympics, with a circuit set to race around the Park.[2] The Beijing Olympic Green Circuit was formally unveiled ahead of the 2014 Beijing ePrix, and staged its first race on 13 September 2014.[3]
Circuit History[]
The inaugural Beijing ePrix proved to be a very dramatic affair, with a late crash between Nick Heidfeld and Nicolas Prost allowing Lucas di Grassi to sweep to victory.[2] The circuit subsequently returned for the 2015/16 season, although with modifications which saw the removal of the first chicane, as well as a small re-profiling of the second chicane.[4]
