Carrie Schreiner (born 14 September 1998 in Völklingen, Saarland, Germany) is a German racing driver who served as a test driver for Maserati MSG Racing during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A veteran of the F1 Academy and various GT racing series in her native Germany, Schreiner had originally got her first taste of FE at the age of 20 at the 2018 Ad Diriyah Test with HWA Racelab, before making a return to the paddock at the 2024 Jarama Test.[2]
Background[]
Schreiner began her career in karting in her native Germany, racing until the end of 2014 when the German youth earned a seat in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship for the 2015 season, finishing 44th.[3] 2016 saw Schreiner twin an ADAC F4 championship run with a campaign in the F4 British Championship, with the latter campaign earning her a handful of points finishes and seventeenth in the title hunt.[3] In 2017 Schreiner would shift focus to GT racing with seats in numerous Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, with her best run coming in the Middle East series as she claimed the runner-up spot in the Pro class.[3]
GT Graces: 2018 - 2022[]
Schreiner doubled down on GT racing for 2018, a move which would see her win the Pro-Am class of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East, as well as the title in the DMV Gran Turismo Touring Car Cup, her biggest title wins of her career to that point.[3] 2019 saw Schreiner move into the ADAC GT Masters, as well as make her debut in the VLN Series, finishing four tin the SP3T class in the latter.[3] For 2020 Schreine would again race in the GT Masters alongside campaigns in the NLS series, finishing third in the SP8 class with four wins in four appearances, while also make her debut in the 24H GT Series in the GT4 class.[3]
2021 brought Schreiner a reduced programme with a run in the SP9 Pro-Am class of NLS, as well as a campaign in the Italian GT Sprint Championship, finishing sixth and fifth respectively.[3] The following year and Schreiner featured in the full SP9 Pro class of the NLS, while also making a cameo in the 24H GT Series, before moving back into single seaters for 2023.[3]
Single Hopes: 2023 - Present[]
Indeed, 2023 would see Schreiner obtain a seat in F1 Academy for the season, with the German racer claiming a single victory en-route to eleventh in the Championship hunt, and a renewed interest in racing single-seaters.[3] A sophomore campaign in F1 Academy followed in 2024, although Schreiner would not manage to add to her win tally, while she would also make appearances in the F4 UAE Championship and a handful of starts in the F4 British Championship and Formula Winter Series, although in all of those series Schreiner would only secure a handful of points between them.[3]
Formula E History[]
Schreiner was first offered a drive in an ABB FIA Formula E Championship car ahead of the 2018 Ad Diriyah Test, which was to feature an element of running for female drivers alongside the full time drivers.[2] That offer came via HWA Racelab, who signed Schreiner up to drive both of their cars across the day after Sophia Flörsch was forced to withdraw due to her huge crash at the Macau Grand Prix the weekend before.[2] Taking time to adapt to the car and the team, Schreiner would set the 23rd fastest time of the day, although her running would be hampered by an issue during the test that restricted her running, particularly in the afternoon.[4]
It would be several years before Schreiner returned to the FE cockpit in 2024/25 amid her revival of her single-seater career, with Maserati MSG Racing signing the German racer up to drive for them at the 2024 Jarama Test in the women's only test session.[1] Partnering Tatiana Calderón for the day, Schreiner would outpace her older teammate come the end of the session, setting the ninth fastest time.[5]
