Dennis Hauger (born 17 March 2003 in Oslo, Østlandet, Norway) is a Norwegian racing driver who worked as a test driver during the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.[1] A champion of the FIA Formula 3 Championship and former Red Bull Junior Team member, Hauger made his FE test debut at the 2024 Rookie Test, setting the twelfth fastest time of the test.[2]
Background[]
Hauger began his career at the age of five, and held an impressive record in his native Norway before competing internationally in 2014.[3] After winning various titles, including becoming the youngest ever German Karting Champion in 2016 and earning a spot in the Red Bull Junior Team in 2017, Hauger would enter the F4 British Championship in 2018.[4][3] Finishing fourth overall behind teammate and fellow rookie Jack Doohan, Hauger moved into the ADAC and Italian F4 series for 2019.[3]
Rapid Red Bull: 2019 - 2024[]
Hauger was beaten to the ADAC title by Théo Pourchaire that season, although he would sweep to the title in the Italian series against Gianluca Petecof and Paul Aron.[3] 2020 saw the Norwegian pilot move into the FIA Formula 3 Championship, although the condensed season saw Hauger only claim two point scoring finishes.[3] A move to Prema Racing, however, would kickstart Hauger's F3 fortunes, with the Norwegian racer duly claiming four wins and the Championship title, 26 points clear of Doohan, and a spot in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for 2022.[3]
Hauger's rookie F2 season saw him claim two victories as he claimed tenth in the title hunt, earning him a sophomore campaign in 2023 where Haugar doubled his win tally, but failed to mount a sustained title bid as he claimed eighth in the Championship.[3] Regardless, Hauger would end the season with a run to second in the famed Macau Grand Prix, in what was his debut at the race, before embarking on an ultimately fruitless third campaign in F2 in 2024, claiming just a single victory as he slipped to eleventh in the Championship.[3] Indeed, Hauger would depart the series towards the end of the season, instead moving to the United States to focus on a switch to the Indy NXT series for 2025.[3]
Formula E History[]
Hauger was approached to drive for the Porsche Formula E Team ahead of the 2024 Rookie Test, the only in-season test that was held as part of the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and would take over the #94 car of Pascal Wehrlein.[1] Partnering Porsche factory driver Thomas Preining for the day, Hauger would prove a fair match for the Austrian pilot, setting a time within a few hundredths of Preining as the twelfth fastest driver at the test, but would more significantly complete 92 laps of the Tempelhofring throughout the day.[2]
