Gabriela Jílková (born 2 April 1995 in Roztoky, Central Bohemian, Czech Republic) is a Czech racing driver who tested for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A GT driver by trade, Jílková would get her first taste of FE at the 2023 Valencia Test with Porsche, before being called upon again for the 2024 Jarama Test which featured an all-women test session for the first time in the Series' history.[2]
Background[]
Starting her career in karting at the age of twelve, Jílková would graduate to racing cars in 2012, completing a part season in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, before a brief run in the Super Car Challenge Superlights in her native Czech Republic in 2013.[3] After a brief spell back in karting and a hunt for backing, Jílková returned to car racing in 2016, compeing in the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe, and then moved into GT racing in 2019 with a run in the 24H Series Europe in the GT4 class.[3] From 2021 Jílková would make a name for herself by taking the GT Winter Series title in the GTS class with two victories, before a campaign in the ADAC GT4 Germany championship later that year which saw her claim eighth in the Championship.[3]
An expanded programme for 2022 saw Jílková run in both German GT4 as well as the Pro-Am Cup class of the GT4 European Series, while also completing a campaign in the Indian Racing League, finishing tenth with two podium finishes in the latter.[3] 2023 saw Jílková move to the French Championnat de France FFSA GT series, running to third in the GT4 Pro-Am class with a number of class wins, while also claiming victory in her first season of prototype racing in the Prototype Cup Germany.[3] 2024 brought a return to the GT4 European Series for Jílková, with the Czech pilot ending the campaign in sixth in her class.[3]
Formula E History[]
Jílková was initially signed by the Porsche Formula E Team as a simulator driver, supporting both development and in-race programmes for the German squad in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship during the 2022/23 season.[2] That ultimately led to Porsche calling upon her driving talents for the 2023 Valencia Test, which saw all teams required to use a rookie driver in both of their cars at some point during the 3 day test, with Jílková set to pilot both the cars of Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa during the second day of the test.[2] Jílková would ultimately only get to use da Costa's car during the second session, the result of a heavily revised schedule, with the Czech racer completing 46 laps and setting the 21st best time of the session.[4]
After missing the 2024 Rookie Test, Porsche would recall Jílková for the 2024 Jarama Test, which would see teams mandated to run a woman during an extra session at the test, with three hours of solid running scheduled for the day.[1] Partnering Marta García and using Wehrlein's car for the day, Jílková would set the fourteenth fastest time of the sesion, two seconds slower than her testing teammate and 3.6 seconds off the ultimate pace, albeit having focused on a race simulation programme.[5]
