Gabriele Minì (born 20 March 2005 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy) is an Italian racing driver who served as a test driver for the Nissan Formula E Team during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A race winner in the FIA Formula 3 Championship and a member of the Alpine Academy, Minì made his FE debut at the 2024 Rookie Test for the Japanese marque, and would continue on as a test driver for them into Season Eleven, making his race weekend debut at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I in a rookie free practice session.[2]
Background[]
Minì's career began in karting at the age of six, and would bring the Italian youth a huge haul of titles and victories including finishing as twice runner-up in the CIK-FIA Karting European Championship in 2018 and 2019.[3] In 2020 Minì graduated to single-seaters with immediate success, securing the Italian F4 Championship, while also claiming a single victory in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship despite the ravages of Covid-19 on the season.[3] For 2021 Minì moved to the Formula Regional European Championship, finishing seventh, before cracking the series on his second attempt in 2022, finishing as runner-up, while also claiming fourth in its Asian equivalent.[3]
Alpine's Ace? 2023 - Present[]
2023 opened with Minì securing a place in the Alpine Academy, whose backing aided him in getting a place in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where the Italian youth claimed two wins and seventh in his first attempt at the series.[3] Retained for 2024, Minì would put together a serious title challenge, although he would ultimately finish the season as runner-up having been disqualified in the final race while contending for the crown.[3] Minì would also make a stunning debut in FIA Formula 2 Championship, finishing third in his first race having almost claimed pole position, with the Italian ultimately graduating to the series in 2025.[3]
Formula E History[]
Minì was approached by Nissan to test for them ahead of the 2024 Rookie Test, staged during the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at the Tempelhofring.[1] During the test Minì would get the upperhand in terms of outright pace of temporary teammate Caio Collet, although committments in FIA Formula 3 meant that Minì was unable to take on the chance to stand-in for Oliver Rowland at the 2024 Portland E-Prix, a seat instead taken by the Brazilian pilot instead.[4] Yet, Minì would still remain in Nissan's thoughts heading into the 2024/25 season, and the Japanese squad would duly hand the Italian youth a run in Rowland's car at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I, with Minì finishing second fastest in the Rookie Free Practice session held the day before the opening race of the weekend.[2]
