Jessica Edgar (born 15 March 2005 in Ennerdale, Cumbria, United Kingdom) is a British racing driver who served as a test driver for DS Penske during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] The cousin of fellow FE tester Jonny Edgar, Edgar would be offered a drive at the 2024 Jarama Test for the Franco-American squad, taking part in the women only session staged during the four day run at the Spanish venue.[1]
Background[]
Beginning her career in karting at the age of five, Edgar would advance through the ranks to begin competing in single-seaters in 2022, entering the GB4 Championship, where she would become a regular scorer and end her maiden campaign in seventh.[2] For 2023 Edgar secured a seat in F1 Academy, ultimately claiming one win and eighth in the championship standings, while also making a one-off appearance in the Formula 4 UAE Championship in a non-championship race.[2] For 2024 Edgar would again focus on F1 Academy but would miss the heights of 2023, failing to win and slipping to thirteenth in the Championship, while also making a one-weekend cameo in the F4 British Championship.[2]
Formula E History[]
Edgar was signed by the DS Penske squad ahead of the 2024 Jarama Test, a result of the FIA and Formula E agreeing to stage a women's only session during the only pre-season test ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.[1] Partnering experienced FE test pilot Beitske Visser, Edgar would complete a race focused programme, and hence finished eleventh in the outright pace of the session, albeit as one of only three drivers not to set their fastest lap using Attack Mode during the session.[3]
