Katherine Legge, born 12 July 1980, is a British racing driver, who competes in the 2018/19 FIA Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.[1] A former competitor in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Legge was one of the first drivers to be announced for the eTrophy, and was one of only two women included on the full season entry list.[1]

Background[]

Legge began racing in go-karts, before becoming the first woman to take pole position in British Formula Ford (on her début).[2] Continuing in single seaters, Legge raced in the British Formula Renault and then Formula Three championships from 2001 to 2003, before taking third in the Toyota Atlantic Series.[2] Legge then made history in Champ Car, becoming the first woman to lead a lap during her time in the series from 2006 to 2007.[2]

A switch to touring cars saw Legge racing in the DTM from 2008 until 2010 for Audi, before returning to the United States to race in IndyCar (for Dragon Racing).[2] In 2013, Legge raced the Deltawing for Deltawing Racing in the American Le Mans Series.[2]

Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy History[]

Legge would announce her interest in the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy after the series' launch on the 12 September 2017, and duly entered negotiations with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing about taking one of their seats.[3] The Brit was subsequently announced as one of the American teams drivers for the inaugural 2018/19 season, partnering Bryan Sellers.[1] Legge would attend all of the pre-seasons tests ahead of the first season, before a trying debut at the 2018 Ad Diriyah eTrophy Race saw the Brit claim ninth overall, although she did record the fastest lap.[4]
