The MINI Electric Pacesetter, is a all electric hatchback based off of the Mini Electric (or SE for markets outside of the UK) that served as a joint safety car alongside the BMW Qualcomm i8 Roadster for the 2020/2021 Formula E World Championship.

The Pacesetter was the first fully electric safety car utilising a 32.6kWh battery and a 135kW motor producing a total of 181hp, being driven by ex touring car driver Bruno Correia, who has been Formula E's designated Safety Car Driver since the inaugural season.

Only being used for the 2020/21 season, it was a short lived addition to the series but laid the path for all future electric safety cars to come. For the 2021/22 season, with BMW leaving Formula E, Porsche introduced the Taycan Turbo S Safety Car which is still the current Safety Car for Formula E.

Season Role Notes
2020/21 Safety Car The MINI Electric Pacesetter was introduced this year to share the role of safety car with the BMW i8 Roadster. This was also the last year either car would be used with the withdrawal of BMW from the sport.
