The Maserati Formula E Team, officially known as Maserati MSG Racing are an international motorsports team, set to compete in the 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as the factory team for Maserati.[1] Formed from a partnership between Maserati and the existing Venturi Formula E Team, the Maserati FE Team would absorb the Venturi effort, taking on its key staff and operations base in Monte Carlo, while using a powertrain rebranded from fellow Stellantis Group members DS.[1][2]

Background[]

The creation of the Maserati Formula E Team would be through the joining of the existing Venturi Formula E Team and Maserati as it sought to setup its first factory single-seater effort in over 60 years.[2] Indeed, it would be the first formal entry for a Maserati factory team since they competed in the 1957 Formula One World Championship, albeit one using de facto customer powertrains.[1]

Formula E History[]

The Maserati Formula E Team would effectively be a rebranding of the existing Venturi Formula E Team, after the two agreed to a partnership in April 2022 whereby the Italian manufacturer gained control of the Monegasque effort.[2] The team would make its FIA Formula E World Championship bow at the start of the 2022/23 season, serving as the factory team for the Maserati brand, using rebadged powertrains from DS[1] that they have branded the Maserati Tipo Folgore.
