Mattia Casadei (born 2 July 1999) is an Italian motorcycle racer, who competes in the 2019 FIM MotoE World Cup, riding for Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse.[1] The youngest rider in the field at twenty years old, Casadei is the sole rider for the Squarda Corse squad, having made the jump to MotoE after racing in various other junior categories.[2]
Background[]
Casadei first appeared on the international motorcycle racing scene in 2015, gaining an entry in the Red Bull Rookie Cup after a strong showing in the Italian Moto3 Championship.[2] The Italian youngster duly signed up to race in the European Moto3 Championship for 2016, before moving to the Supersport 600 series in 2017 and 2018.[2] Throughout his development, Casadei would ride under the expertise of Paolo Simoncelli.[2]
MotoE History[]
Casadei was announced as the lone rider for the Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse for the 2019 FIM MotoE World Cup in November 2018.[1] Yet, despite being the most inexperienced rider in the field, Casadei would score eleventh place on his MotoE debut, before claiming thirteenth in the Austrian race.[3]
