Mikkel Jensen (born 31 December 1994 in Aarhus, Midtjylland, Denmark) is a Danish racing driver who served as a test driver for the Cupra Kiro team during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A factory Peugeot driver in the World Endurance Championship and former LMP2 champion in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, Jensen made his FE debut at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I, taking part in the rookie free practice session staged at that round.[1]
Background[]
Beginning his career in karting across Denmark at the relatively late age of fifteen, Jensen would graduate to single-seaters in 2013 after completing an impressive test in an ADAC Formel Masters over the winter of 2012.[2] After finishing tenth in his maiden season, Jensen would rebound with a Championship winning campaign in 2014 in the ADAC Masters, earning him a spot in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for 2015.[2] Jensen would spend the whole of 2015 and 2016 racing in the F3 series but would only stand on the podium once, before a debut podium in the LMGTE class of the European Le Mans Series saw Jensen move ino sports car racing from 2017 onwards.[2]
Sporting Success: 2017 - 2022[]
Jensen entered the LMP3 class of the ELMS in 2017, finishing sixth with a single victory, while also running hte Endurance Cup of the Blancpain GT Series although he would end the season without any points.[2] For 2018 Jensen moved into the ADAC GT Masters with BMW, finishing sixth, while also making several appearances in the ELMS and Le Mans Cup at the LMP3 level.[2] In 2019 a fully focused return to ELMS in LMP3 saw Jensen secure his first endurance class title, winning the LMP3 title with three class victories, while also making his debut at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the Intercontinental GT Challenge with BMW backing.[2]
Moving up to the LMP2 class of the ELMS would bring more success for Jensen as he claimed third in the final standings with one victory, while also making his first appearances in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, even winning on his debut at Petit Le Mans.[2] A move to the US would subsequently follow for the Danish pilot in 2021, and would result in Jensen sweeping to the LMP2 class title in the series with three class wins, while also making appearances in the ELMS and Asian Le Mans Series.[2] For 2022 Jensen would sign a deal to drive for Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship, debuting for the team in the second half of the season, while spending the first half of the season winning races in IMSA and the ELMS, finishing second in the latter come the end of the season.[2]
Peugeot Pusher: 2023 - Present[]
2023 saw Peugeot complete their first full season in the WEC, with Jensen partnering Jean-Éric Vergne and Paul di Resta to the Peugeot 9X8's maiden podium finish, although it was an otherwise difficult first full campaign for the Dane with the French firm's design less than optimal for the WEC.[2] Regardless, Jensen would find more success in IMSA, finishing third in the LMP2 class with two victories, before repeating that programme in 2024, although a second Peugeot podium would not be enough to boost the French squad further up the final standings.[2] Jensen was subsequently retained with Vergne and di Resta for 2025, and would also remain in IMSA for a fifth straight season.[2]
Formula E History[]
Jensen was approached by the Cupra Kiro squad to take a seat as a test driver during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, offering him a seat at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I in the rookie free practice session ahead of the race weekend proper.[1] That test saw Jensen set an impressive third fastest time during the session, three tenths off of the ultimate pace, with eighteen laps of the circuit under his belt as well.[3]
