The Motomatica JT-01 is a single-seater electric racing car, developed by Motomatica to compete in the 2015/16 ABB FIA Formula E Championship[1] with their customer team Trulli Formula E Team.
Competitive History[]
The JT-01 was supposed to compete in the 2015/16 Formula E season for the Trulli Formula E Team, however the car would end up not even being allowed to compete in the two races the team turned up to due to failing scrutineering at both races.[2] After the second failure, both Trulli and Motomatica would leave FE at the same time[3].
Development History[]
Although there were high expectations for the JT-01 before pre-season testing due to impressive dyno results, once their single cylindrical motor was placed into the teams car at the 2015 Donington Test the only impressive thing about the motor was how incredibly unreliable it proved to be, keeping the team in the pits for the large majority of the 6 day test, having only completed a total of 7 laps at its conclusion.
Trulli and Motomatica would attempt to resolve these issues, even conducting multiple private tests, however in the end the motor would twice fail scrutineering, at the 2015 Beijing ePrix[4] as the motor was sent to China separately from the rest of the Trulli teams equipment, thus arriving too late to be inspected, and at the 2015 Putrajaya ePrix[5] where it would simply outright fail the inspection, thus never turning a wheel in anger within the championship.
