The NIO 333 FE 001 is a single-seater and all electric racing car, developed by NIO for their factory backed team, the NIO 333 Formula E Team, to compete in the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] The first product to be developed by NIO's takeover by Shanghai Lisheng Racing Co. Ltd., the 333 FE 001 would compete across the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, albeit largely featuring at the back of the field.[2]

Competitive History[]

The 333 FE 001 was launched at the 2020 Valencia Test, and made its competitive debut at the first race of the 2020/21 FIA Formula E Championship after a pair of 333 FE 001s had been prepared by the NIO 333 FE Team for Oliver Turvey and Tom Blomqvist.[3]

Development History[]

The NIO 333 FE 001 entered development after the Shanghai Lisheng Racing Co. Ltd. gained control over the NIO Formula E Team, with NIO undertaking a completely new powertrain design having leased the Penske EV-3 from Penske in 2019/20.[2] The new powertrain would weigh 27 kg and be rated at 98.5% efficiency in ideal conditions, and with NIO proclaiming that their unit was limited to 250 kW by the regulations.[2]
