The Nissan e-4ORCE 05 is an all-electric single-seater racing car developed by Nissan for the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the factory Nissan Formula E Team and NEOM McLaren Formula E Team.[1] Designed around the Spark Gen 3 Evo ruleset, the e-4ORCE 05 would quickly prove to be one of the strongest packages in the Season Eleven field, showing excellent race stint pace and in the hands of Oliver Rowland, claim two victories in its first four appearances.[2]
Competitive History[]
The e-4ORCE 05 made its debut at the 2024/25 São Paulo E-Prix with a quartet of examples fielded by the factory Nissan Formula E Team and their customers NEOM McLaren, with the factory cars of Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato making it into the shootout in qualifying.[3] Unfortunately for the Nissan quartet all four of their cars would be penalised for over-power spikes at various points of the race, Nato and the McLarens at the start, Rowland after a Red Flag restart, when the cars were in 4WD mode, although Taylor Barnard and Sam Bird would work together to finish third and fourth.[3] Fortunately Nissan were able to resolve the issue with a software update and in the hands of Rowland would secure the first win for the e-4ORCE 05, as the British pilot made use of a late Attack Mode to storm to the front of the field and claim the car's maiden victory.[4]
Rowland would again have a starring role in the e-4ORCE 05 at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I leading for the vast majority of the race with Pit Boost only for an energy definicency late on see him robbed of a second win on the run to the chicane.[5] Rowland would, however, get revenge in the second race of the weekend, claiming a dominant victory after Barnard had claimed the car's maiden pole position.[2]
Development History[]
Nissan began their roadmap to their Gen 3 Evo design in mid-2023 in a bid improve upon the fortunates of its predecessor, the Nissan e-4ORCE 04, while also finishing work on their new Formula E facility in Paris, which would be where the e-4ORCE 05 design would be finalised.[1] The car began testing on-track in early 2024 with both Nissan and the McLaren team in attendance, and would prove to be both reliable and quick, particularly on longer runs.[6]
