The Ricardo Feller (born 1 June 2000 in Aarau, Aargau, Switzerland) is a Swiss racing driver who served as a test driver for the ABT Cupra Formula E Team during the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A veteran of the GT realm and winner of the ADAC GT Masters, Feller would get his first chance in an FE car at the 2024 Rookie Test through his connections with ABT, although he would be outpaced by temporary teammate Tim Tramnitz.[2]
Background[]
After a youth spent karting, Feller would move into single-seaters during the 2016 season, securing enough backing for a full campaign in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship, finishing 39th after his rookie season.[3] After that relatively disappointing season, Feller would secure a spot in the ADAC GT Masters for 2017 with backing from Audi, who placed him in their de facto development team, although Feller would fail to score across the season.[3] 2018 brought a sophomore GT Masters season for Feller, where a change of team saw him jump to thirteenth, while also earning a maiden class victory in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup in the Silver class.[3]
A GT Dream: 2019 - Present[]
The 2019 season saw Feller secure his first GT Masters victory en-route to fifth in the series, while also making appearances in the IMSA SportsCar Championship in the GTD class, claiming 92 points and one podium.[3] 2020 would see more success in the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup, before 2021 brought Feller his first major titles, three wins in the ADAC GT Masters enough to secure that crown, while the Swiss pilot also claimed two victories in the Endurance Cup in GT World Challenge to earn that title.[3] In 2022 Feller would make his debut in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters with ABT Sportsline, claiming a win in his rookie season, while also completing a partial run in the ADAC GT Masters, finshing fifteenth overall in both series.[3]
A sophomore DTM run saw Feller impreove to third in the series with a second career victory, while four wins in the GT World Challenge was enough to secure the Swiss ace a maiden Sprint Cup title, this time in the overall Cup class.[3] Feller's 2024 highlight would be an outright victory at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, as he slipped to elevetnh in DTM, third in GT World Challenge in the Endurance series, and ninth in the Sprint Cup.[3]
Formula E History[]
Feller's connections with the ABT group of teams meant that he would be given the chance to test for the Formula E team during the 2023/24 season, when the German squad opted to pick him to run in the 2024 Rookie Test.[1] Partnering Tim Tramnitz and using the #51 Mahindra M10Electro normally piloted by Nico Müller for the day, Feller would set the fourteenth fastest time of the day, half a tenth off of Tramnitz's best effort, but having recorded almost 100 tours of the Tempelhofring across the day.[2]
