The Venturi VM200-FE-02 was an all-electric, single-seater racing car, developed on behalf of Venturi Automobiles in order to compete for their factory supported Venturi Formula E Team during the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship.[1] Designed by Venturi but produced by McLaren Applied Technologies as an evolution of their powertrain design for the original Spark-Renault SRT_01E powertrain, the VM200-FE-02 would not enjoy the success of either of its predecessors, only scoring 29 points across its 24 appearances in Season Three.[2]
Competitive History[]
Development History[]
As with its predecessor, the Venturi VM200-FE-01, the VM200-FE-02 would primarily be developed by McLaren Applied Technologies, which was further enhanced around learning from two season's worth of running and hence had reprofiled rotors, wires and circuit boards.[3] This was married to a Hewland derived gearbox, reduced to just two gears as had proved to be the most effective layout during 2015/16, with all of the casings further lightened as the overall weight of the EVO spec of the Spark-Renault SRT 01E was reduced by 8 kg.[3][4] There was, however, one major change, as a late technical partnership deal with ZF saw Venturi modify the design, taking ZF's SACHS dampers to try to optimise the rear suspension, while also using ZF technology to uprate the inverters in the MGU.[5]
