Zak O'Sullivan (born 6 February 2005 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom) is a British racing driver who worked as a test and simulator driver for Envision Racing during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.[1] A member of the Williams Driver Academy and race winner in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, O'Sullivan made his FE test debut at the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I, taking part in the rookie free practice session staged ahead of the race weekend.[2]
Background[]
Beginning his career in karting at the age of nine, O'Sullivan would compete in numerous national and international karting series until 2019, when the British youth graduated to car racing with a seat in the Ginetta Junior Championship.[3] Finishing as runner-up despite switching teams mid-season, O'Sullivan moved into single-seaters the following year, taking a seat in the F4 British Championship where he would again finish as runner-up, this time to Luke Browning.[3] 2021 saw O'Sullivan continue up the ladder by taking a seat in the GB3 Championship, which would finally see O'Sullivan claim a title and the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award for the year.[3]
For 2022 O'Sullivan moved up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship, claiming a lone pole position en-route to eleventh in the championship and a seat in the Williams Driver Academy for his efforts.[3] The 2023 season saw O'Sullivan work as Williams' Formula One test driver alongside a title bid in F3, which ended with the Brit finishing as runner-up for the third time in five seasons in a junior series, earning him anotehr move up the ladder to the FIA Formula 2 Championship.[3] There O'Sullivan would pick up two victories in what proved to be a volatile rookie season, with the Brit ultimately deciding to move across to Japan to race in the Super Formula series for 2025.[3]
Formula E History[]
O'Sullivan got his first chance to sample an ABB FIA Formula E World Championship car during the 2024/25 season, when Envision Racing offered him a role as a simulator driver as well as a seat for the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix I in the Rookie Free Practice session.[1] O'Sullivan duly made his FE bow in the pre-weekend test session, setting the sixth fastest time of the session and completing the most laps of any of the rookies taking part.[2]
